Dave's piece, and now yours, got my mental time machine lever set to the 1958-1965 era, C.J. I ticked off the checklist of things from Dave's post, but you have added a few more — spitballs, slingshots — And who could forget the Ovaltine and Bosco? Now, I'm going to have to write another post to add to my Memories of Mayberry Series which is dedicated to that whole Early Baby Boomer era. Thank you for the memories. ❤️
CJ, I'm tickled to see you and Robert enjoyed that piece so much. It was longer in its original form but I thought it needed some whittling. I don't think kids play marbles anymore, do you? How about jacks or hopscotch? Remember attaching playing cards to the tires of your bike to make the engine sound? Or the horror of having the toe clamp of one roller skate come loose while speeding down a street? Dang, you got me going again. 😁
How’s that saying go? “Turn about is fair play!” You got me going with your article —it was really great, Dave, and yeah, I remember everything you just mentioned. Aren’t memories fun?! 😊😁❤️💕

It’s been fun, remembering all those things we did as kids. We didn’t see them as dangerous back then, did we;?
Funny, we talked about the drinks, but forgot about MaltOMeal and Cream of Wheat …Blech!
I’ll watch for your new one, Cork.
We were always outdoors playing.
I’ll bet Robert, Dave and I are older than you, KC. Am I right? We’re old buggers … (wink)
I always ended up playing with older kids. I'm 73.
You’re getting up there with us, my friend! You probably remember a few things we discussed, right?
How about hula hoops.
Absolutely! Those were fun!
Playing cards, held in place with a clothes pin and hitting the spokes just right on the bicycle wheels...flap, flap, flap.
