One of the cutest things I’ve ever seen happens with a child, every child, on their very first Christmas.
Boy, or girl, it happens the same no matter what country, or state, or ethnic group the child is in. The only requirement is a belief in Christmas and the Christmas morning joy of opening presents near the Christmas tree.
With three daughters and eleven grandchildren, our family has seen the phenomena a grand total of fourteen times. Each time is as touching, adorable, and funny as the one before.
Like all of my poetry for children, this little poem is true and written from the point of view of the girl or boy child that inspired me.
Baby's First Christmas
So, this is Christmas morning!
Everyone is here.
I don't really understand it
'cause it isn't really clear.
But Mom and Dad are happy.
There's pretty ribbon everywhere!
Lots of things that they call ‘presents’
and pretty paper I can tear!
They keep showing me this new stuff,
balls and books and even soxes ...
They don't seem to know how fun it is
just playing with the boxes!

It was Frankie’s first Xmas, my great grand niece ❤️
Memories are made of this.
Merry Christmas !
