What an amazing Mama you had…and she encouraged something inside of you, that blossomed into beautiful writing. Mothers scatter seeds of love onto fertile soil. They grow into beautiful acts of love, and special qualities. Bless her. And bless you for this sweet tribute to her! 🙏
Although I remember Grammy telling me that “ A pocket, like that one there… (as she pointed to the one in the center of my borrowed apron) is truly meant for tomatoes and the occasional kitten”…
Grammy stories are wonderful, thank you for sharing 😘
Thank you for reading, Heather. 😘 I’m glad the poem brought you some good memories. Grammy sure loved you girls. This will surprise you —December 20th would have been her 97th birthday! Wow!
Beauty within leads to a life of love and fulfilment. Thank you!
That’s very true, Kiwi. Thank you very much!
Happy New Year!

Awww, Sharon, thank you. She was pretty amazing —the patience of a saint! She raised 6 of us and assorted Foster kids along the way.
Your kind words touch me. Again, thank you!
You had a great mama.
She was, Sue, thank you. I sure miss her. She would have been 97 on December 20! That blew me away! 97!
What a beautiful story about a wonderful woman!
Thank you, Andrew. She would have been 97 on the 20th of December. That blew me away!
I miss my own mom tremendously. She was a rock in an often shaky world.
One of the first essays I posted here on SubStack was a tribute to her. If you’re interested, it’s https://open.substack.com/pub/andrewdevlin/p/mom?r=ugzy3&utm_medium=ios&shareImageVariant=overlay
