->A few months ago, I wrote a post about hand guns and the unrealistic way people hold them one-handed in movies and TV. The most obvious thing is the total lack of any recoil when they fire their hand gun.
No one holds the weapon two-handed as we’re taught to. With the recoil, it would be nearly impossible to control the aim, especially for female officers who carry a large caliber pistol and try to shoot one-handed.
->Here are some more common, but totally unrealistic things I’ve noticed in movies and TV. They’re obvious because they’re just not the way things really are.
->In the mornings when people first wake up –-both on TV and in movies -– no one ever has to pee. They hop out of bed and head to the kitchen for coffee, or stay in bed with their lover for another round of boom-boom. I think it would be much more honest and realistic to have them say:
“I really have to pee. Give me a few minutes.” or “I’ll be right back --don’t start without me.”
->Lovers wake up to kissing, or intimately talking—both on TV and in movies. No one ever seems to have ‘morning hog breath’. It’s easy to recognize. It’s like the entire Army had gas and marched through your mouth with sweaty bare feet.
It would be more realistic to have both partners head to the bathroom to brush their teeth, or at least use mouthwash –--oh, and pee, too.
“Hang on a sec, I want to go brush my teeth (or use mouthwash). I’ll be back in a few minutes.”
->Regarding Coffee: (Noticed on “Blue Bloods” and “Jesse Stone” movies)
People offer coffee to visitors. Visitors say ‘yes’. No one ever asks if they want cream or sugar and visitors don’t ask for cream or sugar either.
People offer coffee to visitors. Visitors get coffee but never drink it and when they leave, their full cups are still visible on the table.
More in Movies and on TV Shows:
->It’s ridiculous when they show two people go into a bar, sit down, and tell the bartender “A couple of beers, please.” The bartender, or waitress then hands them two beers. They never ask “What kind of beer do you want?”
These days, some bars have over 75 different kinds of beer. Realistically, the bartender will always ask a customer what kind of beer they want.
->Detectives look at outside camera film footage and the bad guy who is several blocks away looks distorted, or pixilated. They tell the photo tech to enhance it several times and suddenly the picture is clear, so clear we can almost count the freckles on the perpetrator’s face. That kind of film enhancement isn’t possible —yet.
->It’s illogical, the length of time a driver will talk to, argue with, or keep looking at the passenger beside them instead of watching the road ahead. That is so unrealistic and most people aren’t stupid enough to do that in real life. It’s an accident waiting to happen.
->It’s unrealistic when a woman goes into labor, especially a new mother, and the baby is born within an hour. It just doesn’t happen that way, especially with a first baby.
Pay attention and watch closely. You’ll probably see a lot more …

"Don't start without me" ...🤣 What a great line C.J.
Not too much realism on TV
