Love'd that CJ. Brought back memories too. Just a thought. Upon lots and lots of reflection on the Christmas song by Grey Lake 'I believe in Father Christmas' it occurred to me one night, that he managed to something more that just 'write a Christmas song'. (which was not his intent but a 'warning' about commercialism of such). which in itself is quite revealing (the song) as Greg Lake managed to get the birth, death and resurrection in one verse of that 'Christmas Song'. Yep:

'...'Til I believed in the Israelite,

And I believed in Father Christmas,

I looked to the sky with excited eyes,

Then I woke with a yawn in the first light of dawn,

And I saw him and through his disguise...'

So yea CJ, I believe in Father Christ mas too. x

Trying to get everyone in the right spirit in light of the coming election and with our horrible hurricane weather. Too much negativity!

Snow is pretty too. Childhood Christmas music. Peppermint ice cream with chocolate syrup.

Awww sweet. You can grow the child up and out of the Christmas spirit, but you can’t take the Christmas spirit out of the inner child. She still loves it. 💞

A long time ago, as a Pre School Teacher we prepared for the holidays by gathering things for Babies. I talked about how we could be Santa's Elves and gather things for Babies. I wrote a note to parents explaining that I would deliver these Baby gifts to shelters, and to families in need. I wanted my little Students to learn about the joy of giving, even when you do not get to hand the gift to the person who would open the gift, Just like Elves. It was incredible fun to watch how these children were naturally altruistic. With nout judgement of any kind. They always wanted to know hy these babies Mom and Dad did not have things to give them. So I kept it simple. I explained that they worked and needed to spend money on food, and a wam house, and for clothes, and diapers, but sometimes ran out of money for other things. It was always, every year, a somber moment. These little people were four and five years old, but had hearts, big enough for everyone. It was rejuvenating for me. Working with children, restored my hope every ear.

You brought back a memory of probably one of the last Christmases I remember believing in ol’ Santa. I was in the basement at my aunt’s house on Christmas Eve after dinner with a couple of my cousins. There was no snow on the ground and we were honestly worried that Santa wouldn’t come because there was no snow ! It was pushing 8:00 or so. And poof, just like that, when we spoke of that fear, the snow began to fall and our worry turned to excitement again 😁

We always knew the true meaning, but Santa was still real too.

In the future years, when my cousins had their kids, I was Santa, Ho Ho Ho-ing on Christmas Eve at the family get together. Did it for 5 years or so until they started getting a little older and discovered that someone was always missing while Santa was there 😜😜😂😂.

I love your story, Ken. Very descriptive. You were so young to give up your belief in Santa.
