Time, like an ever flowing stream......and then waking up to realize the clock fiddlers were at it again, and now, because we don't change clocks twice a year, they thought they had an extra hour this morning. Who's kidding whom? You're not in charge of time because you change and set your clocks. You're not in charge of November or next year. And that's probably a good thing!

Time is like a greased pig. It’s hard to hold, slips through our fingers, and if we ever did catch it, we wouldn’t know what to do with it because it’s bigger than we are with a mind of its own.

I start with the construct of time as an invention for our convenience….really an illusion.

Absolutely, Gary, especially since there is no time with the Universe. It’s a man-made convenience, like you said, an illusion.

See my post on Notes, really an older post, "It's About Time."

When I have a few minutes later, I will definitely look it up and read.

You’ll be around the 5 years, maybe longer. The world needs to keep its good people.

From Hootie and the Blowfish -

“Time is wastin', time is walkin'

(Time, time) You ain't no friend of mine

(Time, time) I don't know where I'm goin'

(Time, time) I think I'm out of my mind...

Thinkin' about time

And if I die tomorrow, yeah

Just lay me down to sleep”

Taking action is the path to greatness. Allow yourself to fail because failure are stepping stones to success and it takes courage. I'm also excited Christmas is around the corner.

I am, too, Precious! Christmas is my favorite time of year.

So true, the older I get the faster time goes by. Better enjoy it will we can! As it says in the Bible; “Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.”

‭‭James‬ ‭4‬:‭14‬ ‭NIV‬‬

God Bless you C.J.!

Time waits no one. Yet time has so much meaning for all humans. For those who are like me living in a daylight savings country, I feel entitled ‘having’ an extra hour today, yet it’s just an illusion…I loved this piece as I’m older and I’m acutely aware of time I have spent in the world (vs time left in this world, glass half full, always). I loved your idea about how time ‘starting’ to speed up in the 30s…so true, hah!

It’s funny, Wen, this piece started out as a light-hearted imaginary ‘what if’ kind of thing, but the more I wrote and the more I thought about it, it started to take on a life of its own.

I enjoyed writing it, I really did, and from the responses so far, I’d say Time is on most people’s minds —just like it was on mine. I think mostly because it does seem to speed up —magic? Hell, I don’t know, but it sure seems there is a big difference between kid-Time and grownup-time!

Maybe we’re on to something?

That’s the magic of writing. What you started out to write may not be what you ended up with. Love the creative journey! Always has a way to surprise us!

I am, by trade, a black-and-white analytical math person. Even my day job involves that side of my brain. I have never written anything in my life (other than my own journal). Needless to say, this really took me by surprise. 11 years ago, my sister introduced me to a medium. With my scientific and curious and ready to bust-the-mystical-bubble mind, I paid for a reading. The medium told me one day I would write and others will read it, I laughed at her face! Now, I am scrambling to find her name and contact number more than a decade later, haha! Because of you and someone else's writing about time, I decided to post my TIME piece today (wrote it awhile ago, in the queue waiting to be posted). Check it out! Hope you like it!
