The Front Porch of Forever by C.J. Heck Only in a dream where I was safe and warm did I long for the one who would complete me. I knew you were there, I could feel you. From my open heart and waiting soul, my heart felt yours. You love me, with my weaknesses, not point them out nor abuse me for them. You love me in spite of them. You are my strength as I am yours. You join your heart with mine and it makes us whole. You never hide me in your shadow or tell me who to be. You don’t want me to lose the me I already am. You steady me if I stumble. You give me your hand, not your disdain for tripping over the bump in the road. You are the one. You can forgive, but more important, you have enough love to allow you forget. You freely trust and, like me, you are vulnerable and we each are worthy of trust. When I wake to find you, take my hand. Walk with me into tomorrow, the yesterdays our stepping stones, through months to years, to sit side by side in our chairs on the front porch of forever. I knew you were there. I could feel you.
