The Naiveté of Words Simple little things, Words, and so effective when strung together in a poem, breathing romance, fading loneliness, with pastel strokes of words in lines. When joined together In just the right way words can make a poet's thoughts, whether fact or fiction, become a reader's hope and deepest desire. Words find their way to a reader's heart as surely as petals dropped in a forest mark the way home again. I love you's bloom only to fade from truths revealed in even more words. Can a person fall in love through poetry? I saw it happen. It was through the simple naiveté of words. -*- The Promise I look at the moon and I feel your stare as I send my promise into the night. I will never leave where desire drives my soul. I was relentless in my struggle to love and feel loved. Hope is strong and love is ever willful because I know you also love and need to be loved. To you, in my every dream. To you, in my every night: With our eyes on the same moon, I feel your stare and send my promise into the night. I will never leave where desire drives my soul. I was relentless in my struggle to love and feel loved. I will always be here to love you … -*- Sweet Revenge A seedy bar in Half Moon Bay, known for trysts, where lovers play while lonely spouses wait at home beside a clock and all alone. A vengeful woman in a chair, hoping everyone sees her there. A playful cat, a mouse she seeks, eyeing men through fingers peeks … fantasizing, nothing missed, her mind goes racing down a list of attributes to be beneath in wanton loving between the sheets. Courage bolstered by the drinks, seductive eyes give blatant winks, and volumes spoken in her smile that says to them – “Love me awhile.” Her guilt is gone, the lesson learned, revenge was sweet and now hate burned at this same table where he sat and broke her heart -- he saw to that, and now it’s his turn there at home beside a clock and all alone.

Excellent poems. That last one's a doozy. I really loved the stanza in the first poem: Words find their way / to a reader's heart / as surely as petals / dropped in a forest / mark the way / home again.
