Something I always loved to do was teach my children and then my grandchildren how to play “Stairs Pony”. This is where you ride a bed pillow down the carpeted stairs with a bumpity-bumpity---bump.
The first time, everyone goes one step at a time all the way to the bottom, ka-thump-stop. Ka-thump-stop. Ka-thump-stop.
Then as the child feels a little more comfortable (and less afraid), they try it a little bit faster. Bumpity-bumpity-legs down-stop. Bumpity-bumpity-legs down-stop.
Finally, all caution is thrown to the wind! They’ve got a tight grip, legs are raised just high enough, and their butt starts moving forward, bumpity—-bumpity—-bumpity—-bump!
“Whoopeee!” they scream, “I did it! I did it!”
Then, when everyone has gotten good at it, we time each other to see who’s faster getting to the bottom.
The hardest part is at the very start, showing them how to sit on the pillow the right way and how to hold the corners of the pillowcase so they won’t fall off. The rest is icing on the cake ... er … pony-ing on the stairs.
“You have to sit in the middle of the pillow. Make sure half of it is behind you, and the other half is in front. Then grab the front two corners and pull the front half of the pillow up through your legs in front. Hang on to the corners really tight —REALLY tight!”
“Do Not Let Go, or you will go bumpity-gallumpa-slide-crash-boom!” (No, I didn’t make that up. One of my grandsons did).
And that wasn’t the whole truth, sorry. Actually, the hardest part, and I mean THE hardest part is … I always have to go first to show them how to do it and … I’m old.

As I was reading through with a grin, all I could think of was finishing and putting a comment something to the effect of, “be honest, you’re still doing it, right 😜”. But, you answered my question 😂. You may be old in years, but still definitely young at heart.
Well, that was fun but nothing like what I did as a child! I loved watching Westerns and the fights and cowboys being thrown down the stairs! I did not know at the time, they used stunt men and they were never hurt. After I saw a Western on TV,. I immediately went out the back door and threw myself down the stone steps! I landed at the bottom and cried! Everyone came out to see what had happened! I can't remember what happened next! I don't believe I was seriously hurt, just a bump on the head and perhaps a cut on my forehead! I did some weird things when I was a child!
