There Are So Many How Manys ...
Children's Poetry (from a child's point of view), by C.J. Heck
Have you ever noticed how many questions children ask? To them, every question is important and worthy of an answer. I wouldn’t advise holding back any answers though, because the questions seem to multiply. Then you have an all-day experience.Â
Here is an example …
There Are So Many How Manys How many fish in the ocean? How many peas in a pod? How many steps up to heaven would there be if I went to see God? How many hugs is too many? How many bees in a swarm? How many teeth will fit in my mouth? How many flakes in a snowstorm? If it takes one night to count fireflies, would it take two nights to count stars? How many roads can there be in a mile? How many miles is too far? How many hairs do I have on my head? Why did Daddy's hairs all fall out? If I count all day long, then get tired, how many numbers can I count? How many bricks in a building? How many leaves on a tree? How can you count how old someone is, if you only can count what you see? When I grow up, I'll be a teacher. I'll show kids how to count every way. If I’m a teacher and I teach them counting, how many kids can I teach in one day? I wish I could know every number. I'm going to try, 'cause it's fun to do. There are so many things to be counted ... but only one me and one you. one, two, three, four, five, six ... BOO! (giggle) -*- This poem is just for fun. Kids love dreams ... unless they're bad, or scary. Then it's Mommy or Daddy's job to chase those dreams away. The job of being a hero is easy and so rewarding when kids are small ... Dreaming is a Fun Thing Do you ever wonder about dreaming, how the pictures get in our head? Why they're only there when we're sleeping? Why they're only there in our bed? Dreaming is different from movies. We don't get dressed up and go out. A dream can be different every night. We make up what the dream is about. We can fly anywhere that we want to. We can soar above houses and cars. We can even go higher than that, if we want, way, way up to the moon and the stars! We can be someone great, someone special, who has magical powers to use to save our brother from monsters ... or NOT save, if that's what we choose. It's too bad dreaming's for bedtime, but I guess that's just how it must be. If we walked around dreaming in daylight, we might not ever need sleep. -*- Sleepytime Prayer God bless my bedroom. God bless my bed. God bless the pillow where I lay my head. God bless my mom and bless my dad, too. They chase away monsters that live in my room. God bless my brother. Bless my dog and my cat, and okay, my sister, even though she's a brat. Thanks God, and amen, then up off my knees. Wait! I forgot something! God bless me, too, please. (Night-Night)
