After my first book of children’s poetry was published, I was reading it to some grandchildren one afternoon. One of them was just three and my daughter came to get him for naptime.
She said, “C’mon now, sweetie. Time for your nap.”
“No, Mommy, no. Me too wike pomes. Me too!”
That gave me the idea to write some poetry for Preschoolers. I even titled the book, “Me Too! Preschool Poetry”. Like all of my children’s poetry, they’re also from a child’s point of view. I hope you enjoy them!
Bumble Bee Today I watched a bumble bee. He was on a pretty rose. When I leaned in to look at him, he stung me on my nose! I wasn't going to squish him, only watch and see ... but I'll never get that close again to a grouchy grumble bee! -*- Bedtime Prayer Now I lay me down in bed. All my prayers and night-nights said. Snuggle bunny, teddy bear, toasty blankie, all are here. Out with the light so dreams will come. Thank you, God. (Now, where's my thumb?) Night-Night -*- Caterpillar Fuzzy caterpillar with your million-jillion feet, how do you know which foot should go when you're walking on that leaf? You make it look so easy, right-left-right, the way you do. Sometimes, MY feet get tangled up and I have only TWO … -*- Belly Bubbles My daddy says a burp is just a belly bubble. Maybe so, I only know, if it's LOUD, ya get in trouble.

Oh these are gorgeous! I’m sure my kids would have loved them when they were toddlers!
Great stuff! Keep it coming. RE: Bumblebee: the only time I've been stung was by yellow jackets: thee times in less than then minutes outside a Gatholic girls' academy in NYC. I'm convinced thar Mother Superior, a wizened old crone, engineered the attack. About 25 years ago I woke up with an aching pain and stiffness in my right arm and shoulder. There was a faint discoloration at the base of my neck. The pain and limited range of motion in the shoulder lasted about two weeks. The leech conjectured it had been a spider bite.
