Essay just for fun: “An honest opinion of transitional words”
Transitional words and phrases create powerful links between ideas in our writing. In the case of single words, they can help readers understand when it isn’t obvious, that there is a change coming in the writer’s idea, or thought.
I honestly don’t mind transitional words and, as a matter of fact, I use them a lot in my writing.
In the first place, there are times when coupled with important thoughts and ideas, not to mention any accompanying facts, where no other words will do. Transitional words will work to point out your specific thoughts on a subject.
Moreover, if you were to poll other writers, in addition to those who read the answers, on the whole, you will probably find, for the most part, they will also admit transitional words are important.
So, in the light of the question asked, I hope I’ve answered it to your satisfaction, with attention to using as many of them as I could, all things considered, to demonstrate the point at hand.
On the negative side, one can go too far and, with this in mind, it is important to realize that too much of a good thing is indeed unnecessary.
In the meantime, as has been noted, transitional words from time to time, are a necessary part of writing. They can be a writer’s closest friends … as long as we don’t overdo.

Thank you, C.J. You've reminded me of several transitional phrases and words that I have forgotten even exist.
