Back when I was busy raising three daughters, I read to them every day. I started early, when they were infants, and it wasn't long before they each had a deep love for books and reading, like I did. That was important to me.
From my own experience, I knew books and reading were powerful gifts. I wanted to give them something that would last a lifetime –-and I did.
As a child, reading was my ticket to other worlds and places. It was the one way I could find answers and have adventures with my feet never leaving the ground.
At times, reading was also an escape from unpleasant times and situations here. I could go to a thousand magical word-worlds where I felt safe and secure, far away from the mayhem and unrest surrounding me.
Books were my windows to an author’s mind and imagination. Peeking through them filled me with awe at their rich thoughts and ideas. Something even more important, though, by reading, I learned I could access my own well of imagination. It was right here inside me, waiting.
Writers touch others with their minds, touch hearts through their words, and take what's hard to read, and make it easy. Through writing, they inspire by leaving footprints for others to follow who also want to write.
That and everything about books and reading is what inspires me —-and it all helps to keep me going ...
Writing is a key that unlocks the world … a book is the vehicle that takes us there ...

Not to worry, my dear, I'm all for sleep-deprived mania, or mania of any kind as long as pistols and swords aren't involved.
I love your last sentence AND, "...a thousand magical word-worlds."
