I especially liked Bacon and an Egg and Two Boobs... I was reminded of a Saturday TV personality from childhood, Zacherle, a merry fellow with a ghostly pallor and dark hair plastered close to his head, as if flattened by a roller. Zacherle used to broadcast horror films which he would interrupt with skits involving him, his wife (My Dear) in her coffin, and his helpers, Yanush and Igor. He had an assortment of props like hammers and stakes, body parts, and heads of cauliflower wired to dry cell batteries. These were the brains he sought to reanimate. Zacherle was a jolly fellow. A few years ago I read that he had made his final journey into the Crypt. I miss him. His death was the passing of one more remnant of youthful zaniness.

That’s hysterical! It also reminds me of my childhood Friday nights with our version of Zacherle. His name was Ghoulardi and he hailed from Cleveland to use his antics to fill in between segments of horror movies. Madcap humor, too.

Hi C.J, I dress as a witch (Hogwarts style). My mother had a prosthetic eye, so l attach that to my forehead as a third eye 🤣. I put on sunglasses and stick another one on the glasses … the little kids in town love it because they look so real of course. If John was in his body, he wouldn’t have partaken in it … he would have sat there with his quirky smile though 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣💜

A witch would be exciting for children! Heck, that would be exciting for anyone the way you describe your costume. Authenticity is realism when done right. Pictures please!

Hi C.J,🤣 ... the only picture I can find, I am laughing and don't have my cloak on, so not the same effect. The mothers take photos of me. I only entertain the little kids who come around early, around 4pm and I finish by 6pm. The big kids can bugger off 🤣 ... and that is coming from this high school teacher !🤣 The little ones all line up and I have a wooden staff I whittled ... I make them each tell me their name etc ... I do have such fun. Some of them are scared of the eyes as I bend over and meet their little gazes. The mothers all sit on my front lawn and laugh ... and take photos. A friend does it with me, she dresses up in scary mode and stares out my front window which is on the Main St ... I just love the expressions on the little one's faces and engaging with them of course.

Just in for the sugar treats … Halloween is a relatively new thing in Australia … probably only the last 10 years. Growing in popularity now, so there is no tradition behind it.

When I was 13, too old to go trick-or-treating, I was dressed as one of The Beatles! I had a Beatles haircut, black tight pants and black turtleneck and black Beatles boots! I walked with my friend who was 12 but people still gave me treats! I remember a little trick-or-treater, who came to my house, thought I was actually a Beatle! I wished someone would have taken a photo of me!

I thought I would get this posted for anyone who gets invited to a costume party so they have time to put their costumes together.

I was dressed like a hooker one year, too, but I hesitate to put a photo on here. My husband at the time was dressed as a pimp, but he is not in the photo.

Thanks for your reply, Kristin!
