I don't mean to cast aspersions(do you love that phrase?) on the person who asked the question but I don't miss being in that 20 year old group at all, not even 30, 40, 50.. Have to love it when 60+ is the highest category listed on forms. How about being quite happy, content and satisfied with being what we are? Age just a number, really! Judgments about age often misplaced and wrong.
Casting aspersions —yes that’s a great phrase and it’s fitting. I don’t miss the 20s either, as you can tell from the post. I think maybe it was a troll question. It’s hard for me to believe a young person would be so discourteous as to rub age in the face of a senior. It just hit me wrong.
You know, when you get to be my age (75), you’re just glad and proud to still be an AGE, considering the alternative.😁😁🤣🤣
Yes, why measure time by a number of years? We have better, more important things to do than celebrate another year gone by although as you say, better than the alternative. I like to believe it was a troll as well.
I think what the young don't understand is, there is something good, something joyful and sweet, about every age. It's all what we make of it. Nothing is perfect and for those years, there are always lessons to learn.
I remember being in my early 20s laying in the sun and my elderly neighbor said "I used to do that too." I looked at her probably with a smirk I'm sure. She answered with "I was young too."
I thought "yeah right?"
Well here I am closer to 60 than 50 and yes, it happens! I have no idea but it does.
I also remember the kindness of older people when I was in my 20s and I wanted to be like them. I also, remember how I felt if an older woman was condescending to me or looked me up and down when I was wearing my crop tops.
I'm sure I can be that woman and judge the younger generations. I know I do. At any age there is a person inside that wants to be seen. I hope to do better. I'm trying
You’re right at the age when the flip comes and you tend to see life from both sides —the young and the older at the same time. The good ones learn from what they remember. You are one of those and that’s good.
Ah yes, the wake up calls are good, useful, necessary … I’ve had so many I’ve lost count. Maybe I’m a slow learner (?) 😮
The mom of a teen … (sigh) I remember those days. They were the hardest (and most rewarding) days for me with three daughters.
You’ll have to let me know when you get your first “I hate you! You’re the meanest mother in the world!” because you’ve not allowed them to do something you know is wrong, or dangerous. I just answered, “I’m sure you think I am. I also had ‘the meanest mother in the world’ and she loved me enough to say ‘No’, too.”
They don’t mean it and you usually get a guilty apology within an hour. I look at it as a Rite of Passage, a trophy of sorts. It says, Congratulations! You Are the Mother of a Teen.
Those phrases happened 15 years ago lol! He’s 17 now. I’m thankful for every age. I had my first and only child 38 and it’s a gift. My husband and I say it keeps us young. It does!
Oh no worries at all. I didn't think anything of it. A teen can be anywhere between 13 -19 and let's not forget tweens lol. Now it's learning to drive, looking for colleges, first jobs a whole new world
I felt that way yesterday walking past a queue of teenagers at the school bus stop. They pushed past and not one stepped aside to give way. It made me sad to think they’ve not learned manners yet. But it does come round, as you say.
2 things come to mind. Old tired sayings but apropos. 1) Beauty is skin deep 2) Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.
Sorry 20 something, you lose. CJ, you’re beautiful inside and out and I’m thinking always have been. 15 or 75, makes no difference. You are who you are. And I will add, inner beauty is the most important and you’re in the top echelon there too.
Finally, one thing to keep in mind. 20 something’s today have little to no knowledge, experience or understanding of life in general. They show no self respect, lest show any to anyone else. Consider the source.
You’ve caught me off guard, Ken. I don’t know what to say other than thank you. I admire those with inner beauty, so to say I have inner beauty humbles me. You are very thoughtful.

Silly troll regardless.

Thanks, CJ. It's a wake up call in a way and I'm also the mom of a teen!

Oh my gosh, I didn’t realize! When you said you were the mother of a teen, I figured a young teen. Sorry about that. 😮😮😁😁

You’ve experienced it, too. That’s sad. I wonder how many more seniors have.
Their turn will come some day.
CJ, I look at 20 year Olds and think boy am I glad I am where I am in life. Experience is a key to learning the depths of life. D
I know what you mean, Dave. I would not want to go back and repeat those years. Been there, done that, learned a lot.
💞❤️

We don’t know what we don’t know until we know. Like you said, a snake eating its tail.🤣
You do have a way with words, Marilyn!

When I showed my long - ago engagement pic to an acquaintance, her reaction was "Who is that girl in the photo ? Gotta LOL !
