Senryus (5/7/5)
The Senryu poem comes from the Japanese. The first line must contain 5 syllables, the second line 7 syllables and the third line 5 syllables. Usually, they do not rhyme.
Senryus tell a story, paint a mental image, or get a point across in a simple, brief way. They are also concerned with pointing out human nature, often its shortcomings or differences.
Take everyday words beyond everyday talent and write them alive. -*- Mama loves Papa. Papa, he loves some stripper. Undressee Unknown. -*- Raising some children is not for the faint of heart … just a loving one. -*- Hypocritical: To proclaim a Godly self yet write hate in verse. -*- I’ve loved you always. I love that you love me, too. Let’s not screw this up … -*- The cheaters motto … Why settle for a burger when you can have steak? -*- Our Chihuahua has A Napoleon Complex. Short legs, tall Ego … -*- A little warning: Fishing is just like marriage … Never rock the boat. -*- You have amnesia and can’t remember your name? Here take one of mine. -*- In my mirror, there’s someone older than old, please don’t let it be me … -*- He took his shoes off ... You said his feet smell, only it’s not his, it's yours. -*- My dad’s head is bald. No more barbers are needed. Just give dad some Pledge. -*- No one loses weight. Sometimes it runs away, but it always comes home.
