Yes, and that is very unfortunate. Two homes across the road from us were badly damaged and neither of the owners have insurance. One woman told me in the 47 years she's lived here, Milton was the first hurricane that actually hit our community and damaged any homes. That's sad.
I'm glad you love your home, Gary. Home really is where the heart is.
Three quarters is practically a whole roof! I sure hope you find the right people; your insurance co lightens up! Empathy, flexibility…keep asking for the next up… all the way to CEO! Prayers and positive vibes for you, Catherine. 🙏🫶🙏🫶And yes, home is where your guy is! 💕 Keep us updated! Love and hugs! 🧡🎃🤗
With one roofing company, we’re within $500 of what our insurance carrier has allowed. If we have to go with them, that’s $500 plus our $500 deductible means an uncomfortable hiccup in our bank account … not good considering Christmas is just around the corner.
(big huge sigh) The latest is, two more possible hurricanes are ramping up from the same place Milton came from. Oh well … shit happens.
Yes, at some point, having moved more times than I like to admit, I adopted the "home is where the heart is" maxim and that seems to be working just fine. We love our little villa here in the "village" of Ranchos Los Labradores and the villla seems to love us back, every day. Grateful and glad to be here, at home. Visitors welcome!
Ah, yes, the insurance games. So many in FL apparently had to walk away, losing everything, and nothing was insured.

Happy Halloween!

Thank you, Joan. Thank you, too, for the prayers and positive vibes and hugs and love are on their way back to you, as well!

C.J, do you know the song, My Town by Iris Dement? Her song captures the essence of your post 😊
I just came from YouTube where I listened to “My Town”. You’re so right. The song does remind me of my post today!
I love Iris Dement 🥰
I hope the insurance company sees sense! What you’ve written is true though. Home is where our loved ones are! ❤️

Thank you, Trudi!
Two more? Oh no 😟 this is not good news. Nor is $1000 at this time of year. I’m praying for your roof! 🤗
There’s a heavy-duty blue tarp over the damaged part and we’re praying for it to hold if we do get another hurricane (or two).
When it rains, it pours!
Thank you for your thoughtful comment, Trudi.
