The terrors of childhood. I remember them well. Sometimes the fear was unbearable. I had a little stuffed dog, Jack, that I would hold to me and squeeze the stuffing out of until I finally fell asleep. I wonder what children without stuffed animals do to keep the boogieman away?
I can share what I did with my three daughters. They went through a stage where thy didn't want their light turned our because monsters were under their beds. I read their bedtime story, we said our prayers, Mommy kissed them and said goodnight and the last thing I did before turning the light off ... "Okay monsters, you can go home now. Your mommies are waiting for you so they can read your night-night stories and say your prayers. Bye-Bye and night-night!" That did the trick. No more scary bedtimes.
In my next life, I want YOU for my mommy. ;-)
