What if I were to wake up tomorrow morning to a knock at the door. I open the door to find a well-dressed young man who says,
“Hello CJ. I am honored to present you with an amazing choice.”
Then I will be asked to choose between suddenly being worldly and famous, or just as suddenly being the owner of a vast fortune.
Which one should I choose, Fame or Fortune?
You mean once I’m over the shock?
I’ve already lived three quarters of my life. Either choice I make will also include Robert, so I’ll also invite his opinion on the choice I make for whatever time I have left.
I’ve been blessed with an active imagination, a fairly intelligent mind, and a heart full of love. Through their guidance, I’ve enjoyed writing five books.
While I’m not a prolific writer, nor am I anywhere close to being famous, I am totally okay with the limited amount of notoriety I’ve enjoyed during my days in the sun, including:
Radio and TV interviews
Newspaper articles about my books, or school visits
Assorted public appearances
Bookstore signings
Young Author Conferences
Author school visit presentations
Poetry workshops.
I like who I am. I’m much too eccentric and private at this stage to want much more than hugging my children and grandchildren and enjoying my time with Robert.
I would love to be able to make our ‘Golden Years’ more golden. I would also love to help other people, especially those who are making a difference but they’re down on their luck.
My choice? That’s easy …
My choice would be Fortune, hands down.
How about you?

Thank you.
I’d go fortune. And with it would be something in a will or legal whatever that anything left, should I meet my demise, would go to either Shriners Hospital for Children or St Jude research. Nowadays, you can keep the fame.
The fortune is a good choice because with it, you can put the fortune to good work...helping others less fortunate.
