Wonderful that you became a flight attendant! I grew up loving airplanes and have never really satisfied my desires. Except, I work for NASA.

John, you work for NASA, the creme de la creme of flying? WOW In a way, that could be satisfaction for your flying interest, like mine with TWA.

It’s nice ‘meeting’ and talking with you!

I work as a high-energy particle astrophysicist.I love my work and indeed have decided not to retire as long as I have unfinished projects or plans even though I am 73. I fly instruments on stratospheric balloons and rarely in space. I enjoy the flying connection but I yearn for airplanes. I think I finally have leisure and money enough for flying lessons and plan to start as soon as I have medical clearance. I want to pursue a regular

Private Pilot license, but I have two major black marks, a heart attack and a stroke. Both are treated and stable and I will try for aFAA waiver. If unsuccessful, I will go for a Sport Pilot license that only requires a valid driver’s license, which I have. I might also pursue a glider license that does not require medical if I can find a nearby school. The Sport Pilot license has limitations but I accept that. It would allow me to fly.

You definitely have a plan, John. I wish you the best luck in realizing that dream.

A question for you. When you found out you got the gig at TWA, did it occur to you at the time that the childhood fantasy of “flying” was coming true, or did that occur later on ?

I also can’t help but have this vision of you with the 11 grandkids and seeing you as that wise Dinahh that came to you that first time, passing out your words of experience and more importantly wisdom ! 🥲☺️😉

Interesting comments, Ken! The realization of flying and TWA didn’t occur to me until about a year ago. It was my partner, Robert who brought it up and I was awed that he saw it before I did.

LOL your second part is funny. Dinahh had all of the wisdom and experience. He passed it to me and I only passed it along when he told me to.

Thank you, Ken! 😁😁💕

Yes, the urge to fly, the love of pirates and high sea adventure, and the desire to never age, all resonate with me. Kudos on all the books you've written. I imagine those 11 grandchildren keep you very young.

.. apropos - i do suppose.. 🦎🏴‍☠️

my Love & I just back from Providentiales TCI via Air Canada - setting of ‘Turks Grift.. it’s a ‘historic pirate haven down thataway & for good reason am submerged currently in refining that particular ‘Legacy Property’ of three i has underway - & what comes up on my screen onboard - but ‘Fool’s Gold.. so watched the ‘trailer just for fun - will enjoy the film someday soon.. but the ‘film experience is too crucial for myself - to be jammed in an aircraft - as a filmmaker have huge respect for Soundtrack as well ! My home site here ‘the salamander horde’ is All Ages & no Politics or Religion Allowed .. no Exceptions

My ‘response re gun recoil’ was very early morning & under the pervasive ‘influence of Robert B Parker & the serendipity of finding 2 more of his books in the mini library at Club Med Turkoise, during our 10th visit to Provo. Few can match his astonishing work ! Characters, Dialogue & yes.. Guns

We have a truly fave walk in snorkel reef that’s ‘oddly - also perfect for young children & dropped by with our piratical pal Mike - a semi retired commercial ‘hard hat diver’ who’s Dad was an Airline Pilot & he was over the moon we brought a Pirate Flag just for him based on pure instinct

The ‘thing about dog bowl & chain ? That’s based on various ‘experiences & my habit of collecting ‘anecdotes from others.. & will mention John Steinbeck’s Travels with Charley too..

A last thought too.. & just for now is this.. ‘lady Serendipity has always rode shotgun with me .. & Happenstance been kindly too.. For a ‘feral child.. rescued from an island with my big sis Ellen.. ain’t got nothin to complain about & not a dime to my name - Got a tall good lookin son named Dylan & he & his Love - Kat have two children under 3 that rock my casbah .. mischievous imps !

That’s my ‘story.. & stickin too it.. stuck the landing too !

This is the first time in a long time I haven’t posted anything. With only 2-1/2 hours sleep, I was brain-fried and couldn’t think of anything to write about. I took a nap and took it easy. The Universe knows I needed a break today. LOL

I hope you enjoyed the waves and your inner child, your undivided attention!

Yes C.J, it is almost impossible to function on so little sleep. I am not a good sleeper either though l probably manage a broken 5-6 hours a night. Yes, l will enjoy getting down there today. I hope you get a bit more of a restful sleep tonight 💜

Thank you for your generous and lovely comments, Kristin. 💕❤️

I had some crazy experiences while flying on the job, Kristin. I’ve written here about several (3 or 4) already. If you want, I can get the titles for you.

I’ll have to modify them first. When a post is older, it goes in the archive, where it’s totally paywalled. That means only paid subscribers can read them.

Let me know and I will take the paywalls off and send the titles.

Thank you again!
