You know how buzz words flit from news media hack-to-hack and after everyone has had their turn at bat with them, they fade into oblivion soon to be replaced by another. The first time I became aware of this news "tradition" was back in the early '70's when the headlines were throwing the word Feisty about. Anyone who had even an ounce of fight in them was tagged as feisty. One of the words on your list, kerfuffle, was very popular among pundits a couple of years ago. You couldn't listen to political discourse for more than a few minutes without someone piping up with it as if it were the first time anyone had thought to use it. But it ran its course just like all the others and has since been replaced but, I haven't listened to those guys for a while now, so I'm out of the "loop," as it were. Nice "Diddle" List. ~cc

Thank you, Carol. Glad it dredged up some nice memories for you. This was a first for me. I'd never heard of that "tradition". It's interesting how some of the elite seem to feel using vague buzz words gives more credence to what they're sharing, or maybe it's believed to make them appear more intelligent or well-read than anyone else within earshot.

Never ceases to amaze me --we all put our pants on one leg at a time ...(giggle)

Thank you again!

Not to belabor the point but I get something in my inbox called Nice News and today's issue, coincidentally, has an article about, Lake Superior State U.'s Banished words for 2024 because of overuse or misuse. It's pretty funny and explains perfectly what I mean. You can Google the site above and see it for yourself.

What a hoot! I wonder what their success rate is on banishing words and how it's monitored! I'll look it up just for laughs and giggles. Thank you!
