I wonder if it’s fair to say “I know it’s lust for me but I’m not sure yet if it’s love. “. I’ve known couples who stayed together out of lust and they really didn’t like each other. Makes you wonder. Interesting post, CJ.

Sure, Lauren, it might be a good idea to get lust on the table if one or the other other says “I love you.” too soon.

“I know it’s lust for me. I’m just not sure yet if it’s love. Can I have more time?“

Good thinking, Lauren!

You may surprise yourself, Mitch. You have a loving heart and you are learning to love yourself, too. That changes things for the good.

That wasn’t fair, Mitch, and it was painful for you. I hope and pray you are away from all of that now and those people are out of your life.

Solid advice! Then again, whenever I think about my experience with this (very traumatic) choosing to go through with something I absolutely did not feel -- it changed the course of my life and I met my now husband of nearly 40 years - Still I would advise the same thing. Think hard and be honest before you commit. ox

It’s amazing —everyone has at least one story about this exact experience. It must be a lesson for us. It’s met me nose to nose several times and I finally got it right <grin>.

Right? It is the story of so many lives! Some, it prevented moving on forever, stuck, … others temporarily and still others, like me, right into a madly in love relationship (which is never perfect either! ha ha!) Stories of our life and loves or not-so-in-love :)

I went through this exact scenario before I got married. I was the unsure one, wasn’t quite there yet and said so. It was the right thing to do. Then 9-11 hit, I woke up right after and the rest, as they say, is history.

Love is elusive and hard to recognize but when it’s found, it has to be stroked, fed and nurtured to keep it growing! I can think of very few things as needy, and none as worthwhile —it’s grand.
